Who Is University Accounting Service?
|
|
University Accounting Service (UAS) is a student loan management service. We
have been hired by universities across the country to assist in the
administration and billing of campus-based student loans, including:
|
|
- NDSL/Federal Perkins
- Nursing Student Loans (NSL)
- Health Profession Student Loans (HPSL)
- Primary Care Loans (PCL)
- Loans to Disadvantaged Students (LDS)
- State-mandated loan programs
- Private and institutional loan programs
We are not a guarantee agency and we do not manage loans in the Direct
or Federal Family Educational Loan (FFEL) programs.
We are here to assist you in understanding the terms under which you
borrowed your loans and to make repayment as easy as possible.

Does UAS Own My Loan?
|
|
No. Your loan has not been sold. The school that provided the loan still owns the loan.

When Is My First Payment Due?
|
|
When you graduate or leave school, you generally will have a grace period
before your first payment is due. The length of the grace period depends
on the type of loan you received.
Before you leave school, you should expect to receive a Truth-In-Lending
Statement that shows the due date of your first scheduled payment. During
your grace period, you should expect to receive one or more reminders of that due date.

I've Heard That My Account Could Be Reported To A Credit Bureau. Why
Would That Happen?
|
|
A Federal Perkins loan is reported to credit bureaus when you receive
the loan (in compliance with loan program regulations). If you make payments
and/or file for benefits on time, your credit report will reflect a positive
history, which is the first step in establishing a good credit rating.
|
|
Other loan programs require reporting of an account when it becomes
delinquent. Continued delinquency can result in a negative credit history.
|
|
If you have questions about how your account has been reported to credit
bureaus, please contact our office for an explanation.

I Consolidated My Loan. Why Am I Still Getting Bills?
|
|
The consolidation process may take some time. Your consolidation lender must process your application,
verify the loans being consolidated, and send the payments to the original lenders. Or, your loan may not
have been included in the consolidation loan. Not all student loans are eligible for consolidation. If you
have questions about the progress of your consolidation, please contact your consolidation lender.
